Lahore Launches Massive Citywide Road Cleaning Operation to Combat Waste and Pollution
Lahore, Nov 13, 2025: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has rolled out an extensive citywide cleaning operation, targeting over 40 major roads to ensure a cleaner, waste-free, and pollution-controlled environment in the provincial capital.
The campaign focuses on high-traffic and congested routes, including Ferozepur Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Mall Road, Noor Jahan Road, Sagiyan Road, Taj Company Road, Shahdara Chowk, GT Road, and key transport hubs like Truck Adda and Lorry Adda. Scraping, washing, sprinkling, and other anti-dust measures are being actively implemented to improve air quality and public hygiene.
Special cleaning teams are also operating in prominent areas such as Circular Road, Aik Moria Pull, Railway Station, Shalimar Gardens, Bhogiwal Road, Daroghawala, and Salamatpura. Additional anti-dust and debris removal efforts are underway in neighborhoods including Mominpura Bhini Road, Dharampura, Harbanspura, Rehmanpura, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Peco Road, Allah Hoo Chowk, College Road, Bagrian Chowk, Kacha Jail Road, Madar-e-Millat Road, Multan Road, Thokar Chowk, MAO College Chowk, Chauburji, and Azadi Chowk.
In addition to road cleaning, LWMC has launched a door-to-door waste collection initiative across all union councils. Ten waste collection rickshaws have been assigned to each council to ensure timely garbage pickup. LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din urged residents to cooperate by using designated trash bins and properly disposing of waste to minimize pollution and maintain public health.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza confirmed that all traffic obstructions would be promptly removed to ensure smooth movement. He emphasized that the operation would continue daily until the city is fully free from encroachments and would be executed transparently, stressing that “no one is above the law.” All relevant municipal departments have been instructed to coordinate fully and support the ongoing anti-encroachment and cleaning campaign.
The initiative marks a major step by Lahore authorities to address waste management, reduce air pollution, and create a cleaner urban environment for residents.
