KARACHI, August 7: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in Lyari’s Chakiwara area in what police are treating as an honour-related crime. The suspect, identified as Nawab, reportedly shot and killed his wife, Bakhtawar, during a domestic altercation after accusing her of speaking to someone on the phone.
According to Inspector Sajjad Dharijo of Chakiwara Police Station, the accused used a 30-bore pistol to commit the crime in a fit of rage. Nawab was apprehended by police with the help of local residents shortly after the incident, and the murder weapon was recovered from his possession.
The body of the victim was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. However, as no immediate family members came forward to claim the body, residents of the area arranged for it to be kept at a local morgue.
Police have registered a case and launched further investigations into the matter.
