A long term study has found that taking daily doses of vitamin D can not only reduce high cholesterol but also help lower high blood pressure and diabetes.
In addition, taking vitamin D supplements improves the rate of insulin production in the body.
According to research published in a medical journal, a review of studies conducted in various countries by American and Chinese experts revealed that daily intake of vitamin D helps prevent several medical complications.
Experts reviewed 99 studies conducted worldwide, which involved nearly 18,000 participants.
The research showed that although daily vitamin D intake is beneficial for young and middle-aged people, it proves to be even more advantageous for older adults.
Experts explained that as a person ages, the level or rate of vitamin D in the body decreases, which makes taking vitamin D supplements in later years a good strategy.
They stated that taking daily doses of vitamin D, especially after the age of 50, can be more beneficial.
Taking at least one capsule of vitamin D daily can not only lower high cholesterol and high blood pressure but also help reduce diabetes.
Experts suggested that it is better to consume natural foods rich in vitamin D instead of relying solely on capsules, but combining such foods with vitamin D supplements can also be effective.
