The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health said that Pakistan is rapidly moving towards self reliance in the health sector.
According to details, to implement Pakistan’s national vision of self sufficiency in vaccine manufacturing, an eleven member high level delegation from Saudi Arabia is arriving in Pakistan today.
The spokesperson said this is the result of Health Minister Mustafa Kamal’s efforts over the past seven months. So far, Mustafa Kamal has held three meetings with his Saudi counterpart, in which key issues such as local vaccine production, investment and technical cooperation were discussed in detail.
Regarding local vaccine production, Mustafa Kamal has also held a meeting with the Saudi Minister of Industry, where progress was made on vaccine manufacturing, the pharmaceutical industry and industrial collaboration.
Mustafa Kamal said that during the meeting, focal persons were appointed from both sides. On Pakistan’s side, Dr Ubaid, Chief Executive Officer of DRAP, was appointed as focal person.
He added that from the Saudi side, Nizar Y. Al-Hariri, senior advisor to the Minister of Industries, was appointed. In this connection, six detailed meetings were held between the CEO of Pakistan’s DRAP and the advisor to the Saudi Ministry of Industry.
