Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, while inaugurating the Electric Bus Project in Dera Ghazi Khan, criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for “politicizing Punjab’s flood situation.”
Speaking at the ceremony, she remarked:
“Instead of worrying about Punjab, look at the state of Sindh. I don’t want to say much, but please keep your advice to yourselves — we will handle Punjab.”
Maryam Nawaz said critics have suggested she should seek international aid, but she firmly rejected the idea.
“I am Nawaz Sharif’s daughter; I will never stretch my hand in front of anyone for aid. Punjab’s resources belong to its people, and that’s where they will be spent,” she stated.
She described Bilawal Bhutto as a “younger brother” but urged him to rein in PPP spokespersons.
Highlighting her focus on South Punjab, she said that in the past, the region only received slogans, not real development.
“South Punjab is like my son, Junaid, to me. I will not allow anyone to cast a hostile glance at the people of Punjab,” she asserted.
Maryam Nawaz also criticized the federal government’s cash support under BISP, saying:
“Ten thousand rupees is not enough for someone who has lost hundreds of thousands. We want to provide compensation up to ten lakh rupees.”
She announced the launch of 101 electric buses for DG Khan Division, extending services to Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Taunsa, and Kot Addu. Women, students, and senior citizens will travel free of cost, while special ramps for disabled persons and separate secure sections for women will also be available.
The Chief Minister further said she was proud to see women joining the Border Military Police for the first time and vowed to ensure equal opportunities for progress across Punjab’s cities.
