A measles outbreak has spread across various rural areas of Mirpur Mathelo and Ghotki.
Two children, including a young girl, lost their lives in a single day due to measles. According to family members, five year old Khadija and eight year old Sajid were affected by the disease.
Hospital sources stated that the number of children who have died from the measles outbreak during the past week has risen to four. More than two dozen children from different areas, including six children from the same family, are currently under treatment at private hospitals.
Residents of the area demanded vaccination of affected children to control the measles outbreak, while citizens appealed to higher authorities to take emergency measures.
The Health Department stated that people should avoid relying on home remedies and bring children affected by measles to hospitals, adding that home remedies could prove fatal for children.
