ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar warned on Wednesday that any attempt to single out or “minus” one political leader would trigger a crisis that the government would not be able to control. He said such moves deepen divisions and push the country toward instability.
Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House, Gohar criticised the government for targeting PTI founder Imran Khan and restricting his visitors. He said that those trying to meet Khan were repeatedly confronted with water cannons even Khan’s sisters. “This is not a business where you remove one person and the other survives. If you minus one, no one will be left,” he said.
Gohar questioned why even Bushra Bibi’s family was barred from meeting her, calling the government’s excuses unreasonable. He said the authorities were hiding behind Khan’s tweets to justify blocking routine visits.
He warned that if this approach continued, the situation would spin out of everyone’s hands. “We are part of this democratic system and represent 30 million people,” he stressed, adding that the country could not afford further political rifts.
The PTI chief also pointed to a recent provincial assembly resolution, saying the government was now turning federating units against each other. He asked what kind of ban the authorities were planning against PTI when even their certification had not been accepted. Gohar cautioned that if things carry on this way, the government could lose control within a month.
