An 8 month old girl in Hyderabad, Sindh, has been confirmed with the poliovirus.
According to the National Institute of Health, the total number of polio cases reported across Pakistan this year has risen to 27.
The National Emergency Operations Center (EOC) stated that so far in 2025, seven cases of polio have been confirmed in Sindh.
The National Institute of Health emphasized that polio is an incurable disease that causes lifelong disability. Parents have been urged to ensure their children receive polio drops in every campaign.
The statement further mentioned that the next nationwide polio campaign will be conducted from October 13 to 19, during which more than 400,000 polio workers will go door to door administering vaccines to children.
The NIH added that the role of parents, communities, teachers, religious scholars, and the media is vital for the success of the polio eradication campaign.
