RAWALPINDI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three individuals allegedly involved in spreading fake news and misinformation online, officials said on Thursday.
According to the NCCIA, a case has been registered against the suspects for creating panic and fear through false news. The FIR, numbered 186/2025, was lodged under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, accusing the suspects of running online propaganda campaigns and spreading misleading content.
Officials said the operation was conducted by the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, Rawalpindi, under the supervision of Investigating Officer Inspector Muhammad Tauseef.
During the raid, mobile phones and digital devices were seized from the suspects, identified as Muhammad Sufyan, Rajab Ali, and Aalyan Asif.
The NCCIA spokesperson warned that strict legal action will continue against those responsible for spreading fear, rumors, and chaos on social media platforms.
