ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory for the period from June 13 to June 18, warning of varying weather conditions across the country, including extreme heat, rain, and storms.

Punjab

Most areas of Punjab are expected to experience a significant rise in temperatures, particularly from June 14 to 16. However, some upper regions—including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the Potohar region may receive rainfall, providing temporary relief from the heat.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)

KP will largely remain hot and dry, with rising heat intensity in most districts. However, dust storms, thunderstorms, and rainfall are forecast in several areas, including:
Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, and Waziristan.

Sindh and Balochistan

Both provinces are expected to remain extremely hot throughout the advisory period, with no significant relief in sight.

Public Safety Advisory

In view of the forecast, NDMA urges the public and local authorities to take all necessary precautions to minimize health risks and weather-related hazards.
Recommended measures include:

  • Stay well-hydrated and consume refreshing beverages frequently.
  • Limit exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak heat hours.
  • Ensure the well-being of vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with health conditions.
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles.
  • Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during extreme heat.
  • If outdoor travel is unavoidable, wear light, breathable clothing, use umbrellas or hats, and apply sunscreen for protection.

The NDMA continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
