Security forces have killed nine terrorists in two separate intelligence based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to the ISPR, the militants belonged to the Indian sponsored proxy group Fitna al Khawarij and were involved in multiple terrorist attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and targeted killings of innocent civilians.
The first operation was carried out on December 19 in Dera Ismail Khan district after intelligence reports confirmed the presence of terrorists in the area. During an intense exchange of fire, security forces effectively engaged the hideout and neutralised four terrorists.
In a separate operation in Bannu district, troops conducted another intelligence-based raid, resulting in the killing of five more terrorists during a firefight, the statement added.
The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, highlighting their active role in carrying out violent activities aimed at destabilising peace in the region.
The military’s media wing further stated that sanitisation operations are still underway to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining terrorists in the area. These actions are part of Pakistan’s broader counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee as part of the National Action Plan.
Reaffirming its resolve, the ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their operations at full pace to eradicate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism and ensure lasting peace and security across the country.
