If you also frequently experience migraine, then you are not alone you will find many others dealing with the same condition.
In the December issue of the well known medical journal The Lancet Neurology, researchers will publish a report stating that one in every three people worldwide suffers from headaches, affecting a total of three billion people.
Researchers say the situation is particularly serious for women, as the study found that women experience more than twice as many headache related health issues in their lifetime compared to men.
According to the report, study investigator Yuwen Zhu, a research scientist at the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, said that the level of disability caused by headaches is significantly higher among women because they experience headaches more frequently and for longer durations.
He said that identifying this is extremely important for improving the prevention and effective management of headache disorders worldwide.
For this study, scientists reviewed data from approximately 42,000 individuals across 18 countries to assess the global health burden caused by headaches in the year 2023.
