Various diseases have started spreading rapidly in flood affected areas of Punjab, including Lahore. Dengue, diarrhea, malaria, and skin diseases are affecting citizens.

‎According to the Health Department, in just the last two weeks, more than 28,000 people across Punjab have contracted different diseases.

‎Statistics show that in Lahore alone, over 11,000 patients reported to hospitals in the last 24 hours due to various ailments. Mayo Hospital treated 3,300 patients, Jinnah Hospital 2,600, Services Hospital 2,200, while more than 2,000 patients received medical care at General Hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital as well.

‎The report further states that since January this year, 310 dengue cases have been reported across Punjab, including 80 in Lahore. Similarly, more than 100 cases of snake bites and over 170 cases of dog bites have been reported in the province. Medical camps have been set up in flood-affected areas to provide healthcare facilities to citizens.

‎Provincial Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir said that all patients are being treated in the best possible manner, and sufficient medicines are available in affected areas. He directed health and population teams to remain on 24/7 alert and maintain close coordination with district administration, Rescue 1122, and other departments.

‎Khawaja Imran Nazir added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is personally supervising the relief operation. Under her directives, medical teams in affected areas have been fully activated to ensure timely assistance in case of any emergency. He warned that no negligence in providing healthcare facilities to citizens will be tolerated.
