In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than Rs 37 billion were spent under the Sehat Card scheme during the previous fiscal year to provide free medical treatment to the public. For the current fiscal year, an additional Rs 41 billion has been allocated for the initiative.
Advisor to Health, Ehtesham, stated that the Sehat Card continues to deliver free treatment facilities to the people of the province. He also announced that the Sehat Transplant and Implant Card has now been made a permanent part of the Sehat Card program, offering new hope to terminally ill patients.
In just the past two months, 48 transplants and implants have been successfully carried out under this scheme, with expenditures totaling Rs 118 million so far.
These include 23 free kidney transplants, which saved lives at a cost of Rs 45 million, and 4 liver transplants conducted at a cost of Rs 25 million. Additionally, 21 cochlear implants worth Rs 45 million brought back joy to children and their families.
These services are being provided through both public and private healthcare sectors to ensure that no citizen of the province is deprived of timely medical care, regardless of their location.
