Over 2,100 Visas Issued for Sikh Pilgrims to Attend Guru Nanak’s Birth Anniversary in Pakistan
The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has granted more than 2,100 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India for the upcoming celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary, scheduled to take place in Pakistan from November 4 to 13.
According to the commission, the visas were issued under the Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines (1974), which enables devotees from both countries to visit sacred sites across the border. Pilgrims will visit Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, along with Kartarpur Sahib and other revered Gurdwaras.
Chargé d’Affaires Saad Warraich extended warm wishes to the visiting Sikh community, expressing hope that such religious exchanges would help foster peace, mutual respect, and interfaith harmony between Pakistan and India.
Every year, thousands of Sikh devotees travel from around the world to attend the Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations in Pakistan, marking one of the most significant events in the Sikh religious calendar. Pakistan’s issuance of visas reflects its continued efforts to facilitate religious tourism and strengthen people-to-people connections between the two neighboring countries.
