Pakistan Navy Successfully Tests Air Defence Missile in Arabian Sea

The Pakistan Navy has successfully carried out a live firing of the FM-90 (N) Extended Range surface to air missile in the North Arabian Sea, demonstrating its strong operational readiness and modern combat strength, the military’s media wing said on Monday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Live Weapon Firing exercise involved a naval warship that accurately detected, engaged, and neutralised fast moving and highly agile aerial targets. The successful strike confirmed the Navy’s ability to defend Pakistan’s maritime borders against evolving air threats.

The exercise was observed by Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, who praised the officers and sailors for their professionalism, discipline, and high level of preparedness. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to ensuring a strong and reliable maritime defence for the country.

ISPR stated that the successful missile firing once again reflects the Pakistan Navy’s modern warfare capabilities and its constant state of readiness to protect national interests at sea. The Navy, the statement added, remains fully prepared at all times to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and strategic assets.

The latest test comes weeks after another major achievement by the Pakistan Navy. On November 25, the Navy successfully conducted a test flight of an indigenously developed, ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile. According to ISPR, the missile system is capable of striking both sea and land targets with high precision and is equipped with advanced guidance and manoeuvrability features.

That earlier test was witnessed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers. ISPR described the achievement as a clear sign of Pakistan’s growing technological capability and the Navy’s unwavering resolve to defend the country’s maritime interests.

Together, these successful tests underline the Pakistan Navy’s steady progress in strengthening its defence systems and ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s seas.
