Pakistan’s fast bowler Irfan Junior has been suspended for five matches in Australia after being found guilty of ball tampering, according to reports from the Australian media.
The Cricket Victoria tribunal confirmed that Irfan was involved in damaging the ball during a Victorian Premier Cricket match. The disciplinary panel concluded that the incident represented a serious breach of the sport’s code of conduct, warranting a significant suspension.
Tribunal declares Irfan guilty
Australian media outlets reported that Irfan Junior was accused of intentionally altering the ball’s condition to gain an unfair advantage during the domestic fixture. Following a detailed review of match footage and umpire reports, the tribunal ruled that the Pakistani pacer had violated playing regulations related to fair ball maintenance.
The verdict, delivered earlier this week, resulted in an immediate five-match suspension, applicable to all Cricket Victoria–sanctioned competitions.
