Pakistan has turned down Afghanistan’s request for a ceasefire and vowed to continue its targeted military operations against cross-border militant positions, security sources confirmed on Sunday.
According to the reports, the decision came after Pakistan Army launched a strong retaliatory response to unprovoked firing from Afghan border posts on Saturday night. The operations are continuing with full force, focusing on Afghan positions allegedly providing cover and support to militant groups operating against Pakistan.
Security officials said Pakistan’s strikes have destroyed several key Afghan posts, including those in Kurram’s Kharlachi Sector, and heavily targeted the Doran Mela and Turkmanzai camps. In Balochistan’s Bramcha sector, the Shaheedan post was completely demolished, while the Kharchar Fort said to be a stronghold of the Khawarij terrorist network was also reduced to rubble.
Sources added that Pakistan’s precision shelling inflicted heavy losses on Afghan forces, forcing several troops to abandon their posts and leave behind their fallen soldiers. After facing severe damage, Afghan authorities reportedly appealed for a ceasefire, but Pakistan rejected the proposal, stressing that operations will continue until all terrorist threats are fully neutralized.
Officials emphasized that the military actions remain highly calculated and restrained, aimed solely at those Afghan posts aiding or sheltering hostile militant elements, while ensuring civilian safety along the border.
