LONDON, May 22, 2025 — Pakistan’s State Minister for Education, Wajiha Qamar, has called for urgent reforms in the national education sector, highlighting core challenges such as outdated curricula, poor infrastructure, and the need for improved teacher training.

Speaking at the Education World Forum 2025 in London, Qamar stated that the current education system fails to meet global standards and requires immediate modernization. She emphasized the critical need to revise syllabi, address rural-urban disparities, and integrate technology into classrooms to better prepare students for future challenges.

The Minister noted that Pakistan’s low literacy rate, coupled with limited access to quality education in remote areas, continues to hinder national development. She urged international stakeholders to collaborate with Pakistan in strengthening its education infrastructure.

Qamar also highlighted that empowering teachers through continuous professional development and increasing public education funding are vital steps to uplift academic standards across the country.

Her address drew attention from global education experts and policymakers attending the summit, where innovation, inclusion, and sustainability in education were key themes.
