MANAMA: Pakistan’s Hassan Ali secured the bronze medal in the 70kg beach wrestling event at the Asian Youth Games 2025, held at Sama Bay, Bahrain, on Thursday.
Hassan outclassed Tajikistan’s Idris Bakhromov in the bronze medal bout, winning 2-0 with a commanding performance.
The victory marks Pakistan’s third medal at the ongoing Games. Earlier, the kabaddi team bagged bronze, while the volleyball team claimed silver after a tough final loss to Iran on Wednesday night.
Hassan, who was considered a strong medal contender, narrowly missed a place in the final after losing a closely fought semifinal to Iran’s Sina Shokouhi by 2-1.
Another Pakistani wrestler, Abdul Rehman, also displayed great determination but fell short in his bronze medal match, losing 2-0 to Jordan’s Zaid Naghouj.
The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) lauded the athletes for their achievements, extending congratulations to all medal winners and their teams.
“The Pakistan Olympic Association extends heartfelt congratulations to our athletes, their support staff, and respective federations on these remarkable accomplishments. We wish them continued success in their sporting journeys,” read a POA statement.
