The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has introduced a new requirement for private schools operating in Islamabad. The move is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regulation, improve compliance and ensure that private educational institutions follow prescribed rules.
PEIRA has been increasing oversight of private schools through measures covering registration, renewal, student data and regulatory compliance. Earlier this year, the authority introduced a paperless online system for registration and renewal, requiring private educational institutions in Islamabad to submit applications through its online portal.
The authority has also been enforcing the requirement for private schools to provide 10 percent need-based scholarships to deserving students. Schools that fail to submit the required scholarship information can face restrictions on registration and renewal services, along with other regulatory action.
The latest requirement is expected to further strengthen PEIRA’s monitoring mechanism and encourage private schools to maintain proper records and comply with the authority’s regulations. The measures are aimed at improving transparency and ensuring better oversight of the private education sector in the federal capital.
