New Delhi: Delhi Police have foiled a major plot to assassinate Bigg Boss winner and stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, arresting two shooters linked to the notorious Goldy Brar gang during an armed encounter.
According to police officials, the suspects have been identified as Rahul and Sahil, who had allegedly been tasked with tracking Faruqui’s movements in Mumbai and Bengaluru as part of the assassination plan.
Investigations revealed that the conspiracy was orchestrated under the instructions of gangster Rohit Godara, with support from Virender Charan, another criminal figure associated with the gang network.
During the gunfight, Rahul sustained a bullet injury and was rushed to a hospital. Authorities also disclosed that he is wanted in multiple serious crimes, including a triple murder case in Haryana in December 2024.
Police said the arrests have averted a “serious threat” to Munawar Faruqui’s life. They added that further raids are being conducted to nab other gang members who may have been part of the assassination plan.
