Karachi – The Mohammad Jawed Akhai Foundation (MJAF), the philanthropic arm of Martin Dow Group, has established an Early Learning Centre (ELC) at the DMC Boys and Girls School on Baba Island, aiming to provide quality early childhood education to underserved communities.

Launched under MJAF’s Leher Program, the centre caters to children aged 3 to 5 years and introduces kinesthetic learning — an approach based on play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. The foundation says the method supports mental, physical, and emotional growth while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning.

At the inauguration, Ali Akhai, Chairman of Martin Dow Group, stressed that the Foundation’s work goes beyond welfare. “Every project under MJAF reflects dignity, access, and opportunity, with the vision of building healthier, educated, and self-reliant communities,” he said.

Dr. Anum Akhai, Chief Growth Officer of Martin Dow Group, emphasized that early education is critical for breaking cycles of disadvantage. “It is about giving a child a head start in life. With Leher, we are shaping the nation’s future from its earliest stage,” she noted.

Rustom J. Boga, CEO of MJAF, described the Baba Island ELC as a model for community-driven change, calling kinesthetic learning an investment in future generations.

MJAF confirmed that this initiative marks the first step toward expanding the Leher Program to other underserved areas of Pakistan. The Foundation reiterated its commitment to health, education, and development projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
