ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has requested Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori to resign as part of the federal government’s plan to replace the province’s top constitutional post, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Sources said Tessori has been formally asked to submit his resignation. If he refuses, the government is ready to remove him through an official notification.
Several names are reportedly under consideration for the new Sindh governor, including former FIA chief Bashir Memon, ex-senator Nehal Hashmi, and in Karachi, retired Brigadier Haris Nawaz.
Officials described the move as part of a broader political arrangement in which two provincial governorships will go to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and two to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The final decision is expected soon, following consultations within the ruling coalition.
