Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday to review the country’s current political, security, and economic landscape.

According to an official statement, the two leaders discussed steps being taken to curb terrorism and improve law and order. The prime minister also briefed the president on recent government initiatives aimed at economic recovery and financial stability.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work jointly for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.

Key federal ministers, including Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Political Advisor Rana Sanaullah, also attended the meeting.

Amid recent rumours suggesting potential changes in top leadership, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly denied any such plans, terming the speculation “baseless.” He emphasized that neither President Zardari is being asked to step down, nor has Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed any interest in assuming the presidency.

The prime minister reiterated that the working relationship between the president, army chief, and himself is rooted in mutual respect and a shared vision for the country’s future.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani also condemned the speculation, calling it a deliberate misinformation campaign.
