The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has released a list of 38 unrecognized nursing colleges operating nationwide, warning parents and students not to seek admission in them. The council confirmed that degrees from such institutions hold no official recognition.
According to the breakdown, 25 unapproved colleges are located in Punjab, five in Islamabad, five in Sindh, and two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials said the registration and inspection process was delayed due to a recent presidential ordinance restructuring the PNMC.
Despite 755 registered nursing institutes in Pakistan, the shortage of qualified nurses has fueled the rise of illegal colleges. PNMC noted that many of these institutions continue admitting students despite repeated warnings and public notices.
