A late-night police encounter took place in the jurisdiction of Naseerabad Police Station, where four motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire on a police party. In retaliatory fire, two wanted and dangerous suspects were injured and arrested, while two others managed to escape.
Police recovered the motorcycle used by the suspects and illegal weapons from the scene.
The injured suspects were shifted to the hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was later identified as Habibullah.
During the exchange of fire, Constable Amjad Hussain was also hit by a bullet but remained safe due to his bulletproof jacket.
According to police officials, the suspects were wanted in several cases of street crimes across the twin cities. The incident occurred when police tried to stop the motorcyclists, who responded by opening fire.
Upon receiving information, senior police officers along with a heavy contingent reached the scene. A search operation is underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani appreciated SP Potohar, SDPO Cantt, and the Naseerabad Police for their brave response, stating that those who endanger citizens’ lives and attack police will not escape the law.
