The Punjab Healthcare Commission has prepared a new manual for the grading of hospitals and has decided to begin pilot testing before its practical implementation. Suggestions have been sought from health experts to make the system more effective and workable.

‎The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Punjab Healthcare Commission Chief Executive Officer Dr. Saqib Aziz, which was attended by the senior management of major public and private hospitals.

‎According to sources, the Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University participated in the meeting online, while heads of various hospitals from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan joined the meeting via video link.

‎During the meeting, Punjab Healthcare Commission Director Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed gave a detailed briefing on the manual prepared for hospital grading and its various aspects. Participants were informed that before the formal launch of the manual, it would be implemented on a trial basis so that necessary improvements could be made in light of the feedback and experiences gained.

‎Dr. Saqib Aziz said that the hospital grading framework has been developed while taking international experiences and standards into consideration.

‎According to him, the system will provide patients with authentic information regarding the quality of different healthcare facilities, enabling them to make better informed decisions when selecting a suitable hospital.
