‎According to sources, up to Rs200,000 were allegedly charged from patients for heart bypass operations, while additional payments were also reportedly taken to expedite surgeries outside the waiting list.

‎Following the emergence of the issue, the head of the hospital’s cardiac surgery department has been removed from the position. Along with this, Assistant Professor Cardiac Surgery Dr Rafiq Gilani has been directed to report to the Specialized Healthcare Department.

‎According to officials, further investigations into the alleged collection of money from heart patients are underway and action against those responsible is expected.
