The regional chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced that it will move a formal reference seeking the disqualification of several of its members who defected from the party line. According to sources, the decision comes after these lawmakers, elected on PTI tickets, allegedly aligned themselves with rival groups and violated party discipline.

The party leadership said the references would be submitted to the Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly requesting that the election regulator be alerted so that disqualification proceedings can begin. In the announcement, PTI officials emphasised their belief that defections undermine the mandate given by voters and stressed that accountability is necessary
