Punjab Police Intensifies Crackdown Against Power Thieves on CM Maryam Nawaz’s Instructions

On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Police continues its vigorous crackdown against power thieves across the province.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Police, a total of 75,582 cases have been registered against electricity thieves across the province, including Lahore, so far this year. The police have arrested 51,948 individuals involved in electricity theft.

The spokesperson added that chargesheets for 50,980 electricity theft cases have been completed, and over 11,000 accused individuals have been sentenced or fined by the courts.

In Lahore, the provincial capital, 21,697 cases have been registered, and 26,760 power thieves have been arrested.

Punjab’s Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered the continuation of the crackdown, stressing that priority action will be taken against individuals causing harm to the national exchequer.
