In response to recent storm-related accidents, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has decided to formulate official regulations and guidelines for solar panel installations. According to PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia, around 70% of accidents during the recent high winds were caused by improperly installed solar panels or related structures.

DG Kathia emphasized that panels placed on rooftops or open frames without proper safety measures often collapse during storms, leading to serious incidents. The PDMA has issued an official letter to the Energy Department, Local Government Department, and all commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province.

The PDMA has instructed that detailed inspections be carried out on all existing solar installations to ensure their safety and stability. It has also directed the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance, checks, and regular inspections.

The official memo stated that regulatory guidelines will be introduced to make solar panel installations safe, stable, and long-lasting. DG Kathia clarified that the purpose of these measures is to protect human life and property while ensuring the safe expansion of energy solutions across Punjab.

Teacher Transfer Restrictions Relaxed Across Balochistan QUETTA: The Balochistan government has relaxed restrictions on the transfer and posting of teachers, allowing teaching staff to seek transfers within their respective districts against vacant and approved posts. The School Education Department has issued a revised notification outlining the new arrangements. Under the policy, eligible teachers can be transferred to vacant and sanctioned posts within the same district, providing greater flexibility in teacher postings. However, the ban on inter-district transfers for Secondary School Teachers (SSTs), headmasters and headmistresses will remain in effect. The department has also allowed surplus teachers currently posted in Quetta to return to their native districts. At the same time, teachers cannot be transferred from another district to Quetta or from Quetta to another district under the stated restrictions. Teachers awaiting posting have been directed to submit their applications to the concerned District Education Officer (DEO) within one month. The department has warned that officials or individuals found violating the revised transfer policy will face departmental action. The relaxation is expected to provide relief to eligible teachers while helping the education authorities make better use of available teaching posts across districts.
