Karachi Faces Sharp Temperature Drop as Cold Wave Hits Pakistan
Karachi is set to experience a significant dip in temperatures starting today, as chilly winds sweep in from Quetta. Meteorological Department forecasts indicate that night-time temperatures will fall to 13–15°C over the next 24 hours, making mornings and evenings noticeably colder for residents.
The nationwide cold wave is driven by a continental air mass, bringing lower-than-normal temperatures across the country. High-altitude regions are seeing severe cold, while plains in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience dense fog during early mornings, reducing visibility and potentially affecting road travel.
In the past 24 hours, the coldest recorded temperatures in Pakistan were in Skardu and Leh at -8°C, followed by Gilgit at -6°C and Quetta at -4°C. Authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions, especially in northern and high-altitude regions.
Residents of Karachi and other affected areas are advised to prepare for chilly nights and foggy mornings while the cold wave persists over the next few days.
