Alabama’s stretch of dry weather is about to end, with rain and a few thunderstorms expected to roll in on Tuesday. After a warm start to the week, a sharp blast of cold air is set to follow arriving just in time for Thanksgiving and bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures.
The weekend brought unusual conditions, including record warmth on Saturday, when highs climbed into the low 80s across parts of the state. Sunday turned noticeably milder and less humid as a cold front pushed through, leaving a mix of sunshine and passing clouds.
Monday is expected to stay dry, but the calm won’t last for long. Southerly winds will gradually increase humidity throughout the day, making the air feel heavier as moisture builds ahead of the next storm system. Clouds will thicken by late evening.
Forecasters say Tuesday’s system will bring widespread rain, along with a few storms, before colder air sweeps in behind it. Thanksgiving travelers may need to prepare for brisk conditions as temperatures tumble midweek.
