Lahore, August 28, 2025 — Two men accused of brutally assaulting two fruit-seller brothers over a dispute of just Rs30 were killed in an alleged police encounter in Raiwind on Wednesday, Lahore police confirmed.

According to officials, a Crime Control Department (CCD) team had brought the suspects — identified as Owais and Shehzad — to the area for further identification when armed men led by a person named Tauqeer opened fire in an attempt to free them.

Police said that during the exchange of fire, Owais and Shehzad were killed on the spot, while Tauqeer and his accomplices managed to escape. A search operation has been launched to track down the fleeing suspects.

The two men had earlier been arrested in connection with the fatal assault on brothers Wajid and Rashid, both fruit sellers. The violent attack, which began over a dispute of just Rs30, left one brother dead at the scene while the other slipped into a coma and later died. Footage of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage across the country.

Authorities said Shehzad was traced and apprehended through technical means, while Owais had already been in custody. Police have pledged to arrest the remaining suspects soon and ensure they face justice.
