Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has selected his hometown Madeira as the venue for his upcoming wedding, which is expected to take place in the summer following the 2026 World Cup.
According to international media reports, the Portuguese superstar of Saudi club Al-Nassr and his 31-year-old fiancée Georgina Rodríguez will hold their wedding ceremony at the historic Funchal Cathedral, followed by a grand reception at a luxury hotel.
This cathedral is one of the oldest religious sites in Ronaldo’s hometown, built nearly 511 years ago in the early 15th century. The location holds deep emotional value for Ronaldo, as it is only two miles away from the hospital where he was born. His former club, Nacional da Madeira, is also situated nearby.
The couple announced their engagement in August, sharing a photo in which Georgina’s ring was prominently visible. Reports suggest the ring features a 37-carat diamond worth around $5 million.
