According to a new report by South Korea’s Foreign Ministry, Russia has given military help to North Korea, including an advanced air defense system, since late 2023.
This information comes from the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT), a group created by South Korea and the US. The team said that Russia gave North Korea at least one Pantsir air defense system and a military vehicle.
The report says that North Korea and Russia are working closely in military matters. Since September 2023, North Korea has sent over 20,000 containers of weapons to Russia. These include millions of bullets, missiles, large guns, and anti-tank weapons.
In return, Russia is helping North Korea improve its missiles by giving them important data and technical support.
The report also says that in 2024, more than 11,000 North Korean soldiers were sent to Russia, including 3,000 who are trained in drone defense and army skills.
Russia has also given over 1 million barrels of oil to North Korea, and about 8,000 North Korean workers are working inside Russia.
This growing partnership has raised serious concerns around the world.
