JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that if a change is to happen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), it should come from within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) itself.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Fazl said, “I have given my suggestion — the province needs change.” However, he clarified that JUI-F will take any political steps only after consulting within the party, as KP cannot bear more instability.
He also criticized the misuse of provincial funds, saying they are only used to claim perks and benefits.
On the FATA issue, Fazl called the merger with KP a “mistake” and demanded that tribal elders be consulted again. “Let the tribes decide their own future,” he said, announcing a grand jirga of tribal leaders soon.
Fazl questioned the composition of the committee on FATA, asking how many real Pashtuns and locals it includes. “We’ve been asked to give a name — they consider us stakeholders now,” he added.
Although he admitted differences with PPP, PML-N, and ANP, Fazl said there is no enmity with PTI. “We are open to talks on law and order if the opposition reaches out,” he said.
