A widow of a police officer was allegedly burned alive in Sahiwal district after she went to collect payment for leasing out her land, authorities confirmed.
According to police sources, the incident occurred two days ago in the rural area of 70-Four-R village, where the victim, identified as Jannat Bibi, was doused with petrol and set on fire. She was shifted to a hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries after two days of treatment.
The FIR states that Jannat Bibi had visited the home of a man named Haq Nawaz to receive the lease payment for her land. A dispute allegedly escalated, during which Haq Nawaz, a man named Umar, and a woman reportedly poured petrol on the widow and set her ablaze.
Police officials said the case is being investigated from all possible angles and the facts will be brought forward soon. The Nor Shah Police Station has registered a case against three suspects, including a woman, and has arrested one of the accused.
