KOHAT: At least seven people were shot dead while one was critically injured after unknown gunmen opened fire in the outskirts of Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police said the victims were returning from a local gathering when the attackers, already waiting in ambush, started indiscriminate firing.
The intensity of the attack left seven people dead on the spot, while another was rushed to hospital in serious condition.
The incident created panic in the area as residents remained confined to their homes. Police reached the scene soon after the attack, collected evidence, and launched an investigation.
The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital where the atmosphere turned mournful as relatives of the deceased gathered in grief.
