Bollywood veteran Pankaj Kapur, father of superstar Shahid Kapoor, has revealed that their family originally hailed from Hafizabad, Pakistan, before the partition of India.
In a recent podcast interview, Pankaj Kapur shared interesting details about his ancestral roots, saying, “Our family lived in Hafizabad before the partition. My grandfather worked as a government officer, so his postings often changed from one city to another.”
He explained that despite frequent transfers, their family home remained in Hafizabad, where the Kapoor family lived together in a joint household. Kapur also mentioned that his father studied at Forman Christian (FC) College in Lahore, where he was known as a brilliant student, accomplished writer, speaker, and magazine editor.
Recalling his father’s Lahore days, Kapur added, “During his time at college, my father was considered one of the most stylish and influential personalities of that era.”
The actor concluded that their family migrated to India before the partition took place, emphasizing that while they lived in Hafizabad, “we never faced any hardships or discrimination.”
