KARACHI: Karachi has entered a noticeable seasonal transition, with hazy mornings and cooler winds gradually signaling the arrival of winter, the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported on Sunday.
According to the Met Office, the city’s minimum temperature dipped to around 15.8°C, while daytime highs are still reaching close to 31°C as the weather slowly changes. Northeasterly winds are prevailing during early hours, contributing to hazy conditions across different parts of the metropolis.
Weather experts say that temperatures are expected to continue falling through mid-November, after which chilly winds will become more prominent and mark the beginning of the winter season. The shift is also bringing increased dryness in the evenings.
Meanwhile, the air quality index has once again raised concerns as pollution levels climbed with dropping temperatures. Karachi recorded AQI 152, placing the air in the “unhealthy” category due to high particulate matter concentration, environmental analysts noted.
Authorities have advised citizens—especially those with respiratory issues—to take necessary precautions during morning and evening hours as the haze and pollution persist.
