Students across Sindh will finally have their results in hand by the end of July. The provincial education department confirmed late Wednesday that the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) and the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) have cleared their final internal hurdles.
Matriculation results for both Science and General groups are slated for release on July 25. Intermediate results for pre-engineering, pre-medical, and computer science faculties will follow on July 31.
The announcement ends weeks of uncertainty for thousands of students and parents. Delays in the paper-marking process had previously sparked protests outside board offices, with students fearing that a late start to the academic year would jeopardize their university admissions.
“We’ve prioritized accuracy over speed,” said a senior official at the Sindh education ministry. He noted that the boards had to implement a new digital verification system this year, which slowed down the initial tabulation process but significantly reduced human error in grading.
The pressure on the boards remains immense. With public universities in Karachi set to open their portals for undergraduate applications in early August, the tight turnaround leaves little room for error. The boards have promised that the online result portals will be load-tested to prevent the crashes that plagued previous years.
Despite the firm dates, some private school associations remain skeptical. They argue that the boards have been scrambling to meet these deadlines after a sluggish start to the evaluation process. The ministry, however, maintains that all staff are now working double shifts to ensure the data is finalized.
Students can access their results through the official websites of their respective boards. Physical gazettes will be available at school and college offices the morning after the digital release. For those unhappy with their grades, the window for re-checking papers will open within 48 hours of the announcement — a narrow, two-week timeframe that leaves no room for hesitation.
