At Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad, a CR machine that had been out of order for 11 years has been made functional, and the first successful operation has been conducted using it. Through this machine, a piece of glass stuck inside the leg of a 40 year old patient, Nawaz, was successfully removed through surgery.
The operation team was led by Dr. Zohaib, assisted by technicians Zohaib, Shahid Qureshi, and others. The medical team made strenuous efforts to ensure the success of the complex surgery required to remove the glass (foreign body) from the patient’s leg, which proved successful.
The credit for restoring the machine to working condition goes to the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Atiq Qureshi.
Dr. Atiq Qureshi stated that dozens of machines worth millions of rupees in the hospital had been out of order; however, with self help efforts, these machines and biomedical instruments have been made functional again.
He further informed that similarly, machines used during gallbladder surgeries, stone removal, laparoscopic procedures, and gynecological operations were also non functional.
Under the directives of the Health Minister and the Health Secretary, all these machines were repaired and made operational. As a result, Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad is now fully equipped with all necessary healthcare facilities.
