GEORGIA: Renowned American singer Akon was detained by police in DeKalb County, Georgia, last week and released after nearly six hours in custody.
According to reports, officers from the Chamblee Police Department took the artist into custody outside an auto styling center, Tint World, after surveillance footage flagged a vehicle linked to an active warrant.
When authorities arrived, they identified the vehicle’s owner as Akon. Officials confirmed that the singer did not resist arrest and cooperated fully during the process.
Police records indicate that Akon was held in jail for approximately six hours before being released following standard legal procedures. Sources later revealed that the warrant had been issued by the Roswell Police Department.
Earlier this year, Akon had his driver’s license suspended after his Tesla Cybertruck broke down on the road due to a dead battery an incident that drew media attention at the time.
The 52 year old artist has not yet commented publicly on the recent detention. Reports suggest he is currently in India as part of his ongoing music tour.
