KARACHI – The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi Police arrested three wanted extortionists during a successful operation in the Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area.
According to SSP SIU and CIA Amjad Ahmed Shaikh, the arrested suspects belong to the notorious Bahadur PMT extortion group. Police recovered illegal weapons and ammunition from their possession. The operation was conducted on a tip-off, during which the extortionists opened fire upon seeing the police team. Law enforcers, acting with tactical precision, managed to apprehend all three armed suspects identified as Owais, Shahid, and Abu Bakar.
SSP Shaikh stated that during initial interrogation, significant revelations were made. The suspects confessed to conducting surveillance of businessmen and collecting detailed information about their families. They reportedly passed this data to the group’s ringleader, Bahadur PMT, and were responsible for delivering extortion letters that contained threats and demands for money.
The officer added that the accused were also involved in aerial firing outside the residences and offices of traders to create fear. Their previous criminal records have been retrieved, revealing multiple cases of extortion, illegal arms possession, and armed attacks on police. Further investigation is underway.
