South Africa set a challenging total of 194 for 9 in their 20 overs against Pakistan in the first T20I at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Opener Reeza Hendricks anchored the innings with a blistering 60 off 40 balls, striking 5 fours and a six to give the visitors a solid start. Tony de Zorzi also provided fireworks, hammering 33 from just 16 balls at a strike rate of over 200.
Pakistan bowlers, however, kept striking at regular intervals. Mohammad Nawaz was the pick of the attack, claiming 3 wickets, including key dismissals of De Zorzi, Brevis, and captain Donovan Ferreira. Saim Ayub and Shaheen Afridi also took important scalps, while Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed chipped in with one wicket each.
South Africa’s lower order showed some resistance with George Linde scoring a quick 36 off 22 balls, but consistent breakthroughs prevented them from crossing the 200-mark.
Pakistan will now need 195 runs to win the series opener and take a 1-0 lead. With Babar Azam and Saim Ayub expected to open, fans are eagerly waiting to see if Pakistan’s batting lineup can chase down the stiff target under lights in Rawalpindi.
