Stranger Things Team Fears Game of Thrones–Like Backlash

As Stranger Things prepares for its fifth and final season, the cast and creators have admitted they’re worried about disappointing fans — just like Game of Thrones did with its controversial ending.

Actor Finn Wolfhard revealed in a recent interview that the team was anxious after seeing how Game of Thrones’ final season was “torn to shreds.”

“Everyone was a little worried. We just didn’t want that to happen to us,” Wolfhard said.
However, he added that after reading the scripts, they all felt “it was something special.”

The Duffer Brothers, who created the show, said they’ve studied famous TV finales such as The Sopranos and Six Feet Under to make sure Stranger Things ends in a satisfying and emotional way, not a rushed one.

The final season will be released in three parts:

  • Volume 1: November 26, 2025

  • Volume 2: December 25, 2025

  • Finale: December 31, 2025

📌 Why It Matters

The comparison to Game of Thrones is serious — that show’s final season was criticized for rushed storytelling, inconsistent characters, and unsatisfying endings.
The Stranger Things team wants to avoid the same fate and protect the show’s legacy.

✅ What They’re Doing Differently

  • Strengthening the scripts before filming began

  • Studying successful finales to understand what makes an ending satisfying

  • Splitting the final season into parts to allow for proper pacing and closure

  • Promising the biggest and most emotional season yet

⚡ What Fans Are Watching For

  • Will every major storyline get a proper resolution?

  • Will the characters stay consistent with their past development?

  • Can the ending deliver the emotional impact fans expect?
