A suspect involved in injuring a police official during a robbery attempt in Orangi Gulshan-e-Bahar was killed in an encounter with Pakistan Bazaar police, officials confirmeSunday.
According to details released regarding the Altaf Nagar police encounter, DIG West Irfan Baloch stated that the deceased suspect was wanted in a recent robbery incident in which a police officer was injured while offering resistance.
The DIG said a special team had been formed to arrest the suspect, and police were making continuous efforts using technical assistance to trace him. CCTV footage of the incident, showing the suspect injuring the police official, had also surfaced and played a key role in identifying him.
During a raid conducted to arrest the suspect, he opened fire on the police party, prompting retaliatory action. The suspect was killed during the exchange of fire.
DIG West Irfan Baloch added that the suspect’s previous criminal record was being verified, while investigations into the incident were ongoing.
