Syrian Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) Mohammad Abu Al-Khair Shukri met with Dr. Mohammad Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), in Jeddah to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in religious and intellectual fields between Syria and the broader Islamic world.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Hajj Conference and Exhibition 1447 AH, which began in Jeddah on Sunday and continues until November 12. Both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise to promote the true message of Islam, encourage moderation, and strengthen dialogue among religious and intellectual institutions.
Officials described the talks as part of ongoing Syrian-Saudi efforts to rebuild and deepen cooperation, particularly in the management of religious endowments and Islamic affairs across Arab and Muslim countries.
During this year’s Hajj season, approximately 22,500 Syrian pilgrims performed their religious duties in Makkah and Madinah a sign of gradually improving coordination between Damascus and Riyadh after years of strained relations.
